about the website

As well as being a place for information about the Design Futures Program, this website is also an archive of the best work produced by the cohort.

The Design Futures visual identity explored here consists of the best work from students and staff. Work is submitted in any format (eg images, video, sound files, text etc) and assigned curators review work &/or appoint student editor to take responsibility for upload. The website collates the work into random collages which are displayed on the website's home page. These constantly changing images are applied to communication products and disseminated via print, online, environmental etc.

Each work is automatically assigned a code that is published with the image, enabling online searching and comments.

Because the student body and the institution’s culture is never fixed, so to our public identity should remain dynamic and continually evolving. This process is not the result of a marketing or advertising agency imposing values from above, it exists only through the cohort’s own content and participation.

This process is not conventional ‘crowdsourcing’, it is a formalised public expression of already existing and developing values and content enabling critical reflection and dialogue. It is the already well-established potential of interactive communication applied to a context that conventionally shuns genuine interaction.

The website and visual identity were designed by Inkahoots in collaboration with Design Futures students and staff.
