Postgrad

A number of postgraduate options are provided:

  • Graduate Certificate in Design Futures
  • Master of Design Futures
  • Master of Design Futures with Honours

The postgraduate programs in Design Futures are based on a Design Futures philosophy which recognises that many of the social and environmental catastrophes of the contemporary world have been caused by design.

This program is for people who are interested in non-compliant methods of design practice and transgressing the borders of professional and academic disciplines.

Headed by Professor Tony Fry, these postgraduate programs provide students with cutting-edge research opportunities. Postgraduate students undertaking this course have been on award- winning design teams, International Hot Houses and local public project presentations.

The Design Futures academic team is a rapidly expanding roster of theorists and practitioners from a range of countries and disciplines. Their research interests include design philosophy and sustain-able futures, socially responsive communication, mapping and digital fabrication.

The Graduate Certificate in Design Futures is a qualifying pathway for design students without sufficient work experience to move onto the Master of Design Futures. It provides students with the admission requirements necessary to apply for entry into the Master of Design Futures.

For admission to this Graduate Certificate program, applicants are required to have a Bachelor of Design degree (or equivalent) completed at a recognised institution.

The Graduate Certificate in Design Futures is offered at South Bank campus with a Semester 2 intake only.
