Generative Typography Book Design

Designers: Aaron Gillett

Tutor: Rick Sherman

Subject: Typo 2

Date: 1 Jun, 2011

The book's title typography was generated using image processing software. This software trawled Flickr and Google for images tagged with specific words that related to each book’s subject matter. The result of using such a democratic and publicly available medium is a series of covers that attempt to portray the everyday life of the general public, taken by (and of) the author’s broad audience.

A really effective aesthetic has been achieved here, but also a deeper level of engagement for the observer, I found myself looking closely at the images making the letterforms, so the design has successfully commanded attention. well done!
